re Plus, I want the choice as to how my hard disk space is used.

You do have that choice. Win 3.11 takes up a lot less space than Win95. You can always reformat your hard drive and start over with Win 3.11. Or DOS 5.0. That was a good version, 5.0. Didn't take up hardly any HD space either. I'm surprised you've been torturing yourself with Win95 (re Windows is already dangerous to use) if you don't like it. And whoever said you had to upgrade to Win98?

You act as if MSFT is shoving all this stuff down your throat. Not hardly.

You have a choice. As a consumer you can choose not to buy Win98 but if you are honest you will make a full confession in 3 mos. and admit you bought the upgrade. On the other hand you could buy a Mac and then Steve Jobs will tell you how to run your hard disk. Do you know what DOS means. Disk Operating System. But wait a minute the disk is an outside the cpu storage medium as is the web. Maybe we should remove that functionality. Hmmm!
