Can someone tell me more about Investrade? Specifically, are balances updated immediately online after a trade is completed? Are Options traded smoothly? How about BB stocks? Is the touch tone trading system any good?

Thanks for telling us this story, Dave. It certainly raises my level of confidence in Datek's customer service. Sounds like Tim is making good progress.

Datek customer service is definetly improving. Following is my
experience with their customer service.

I had a problem with a market order couple weeks ago.

I was long around 1000 shares of PPOD and entered a market sell
order around 9:35am. I also have an E*Trade account and I was long
3000 shares of PPOD in that account. I entered a market sell
order in the E*Trade account too. E*Trade sell was executed
in 10 secs but Datek took 40 minutes to sell PPOD at the market.
I have to say this was highly unusual and it was the very first
problem I encountered with Datek, they are usually very fast
(especially compared to E*Trade). I think I lost around $350
because of the late execution as PPOD tanked after the open.
Well I called 1-888 # and talked to John Tropy. He said he will
call back. I really did not think he will ever call back.

I was away on a business trip the next 3 days. When I came back
there were 3 voice messages from John not to mention 3-4 emails
asking me to give him a call back. Before I had a chance to
call him back, he called me one more time. He said he talked
to his manager (I think that is who he talked) and I was given 40
free trades. Considering the fact that I trade frequently this
is as good as giving me $400. I was really impressed with the
whole deal that I closed all my positions in the E*Trade
account and transferred all my money to Datek. I also have
accounts with Ameritrade and Suretrade and those accounts will
be closed pretty soon too.

Datek may not be perfect but IMHO they are the best thing out
there.

regards,
Gokhan
