(NYSE:TFS - news) Monday announced that Radu G. Andrei has been named vice president for marketing and sales. As a corporate officer, Andrei will be responsible for all of the company's marketing and sales activities around the world, including new market development. He will also replace company Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer David R. Buchanan as the company's chief marketing strategist. Buchanan plans to retire as president and CEO later this year. ''Radu has some 25 years of experience as a senior-level executive in the semiconductor and computer industries,'' Buchanan said. Prior to that, he was manager of strategic marketing and director of systems engineering for the Sensor Products Division of Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector in Phoenix. From 1984 to 1994, Andrei held a variety of marketing management positions with Hitachi Europe's semiconductor components operation in Munich, Germany, most recently as Manager of Marketing for Europe. In the previous decade he was a minicomputer project manager with Digital Equipment Corp. [NYSE:DEC - news] in Europe. Andrei, who is fluent in English, Romanian, German and French, received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in industrial electronics from the Technical University Bucharest in Romania. He also received an MBA in International Business Management from the Henley Management College in London. As a well-known industry resource, Andrei is often asked to comment on semiconductor industry issues by a number of national technical and financial publications. He also serves on the editorial board of A2C2 magazine.
