** 'Twas a Good Day **

Ericsson has been awarded a USD 78 million (SEK 600 million)
contract by Wuhan Posts & Telecommunications Bureau to deliver a GSM
network to Wuhan, the capital of the Hubei province. This marks
Ericsson's first venture into mobile communications in this Chinese
province.

"The awarding of this strategic project to Ericsson is extremely
important as the digital network in Wuhan by the end of this project
will be solely provided by Ericsson," says Nael Salah, Executive
Vice President of Ericsson China and General Manager of Region
Central & East.

"As this also is Ericsson's first mobile system project in Hubei,
it's a real breakthrough," Mr. Salah continues. "Hubei is the
largest potential area in central China, and with this contract
we've extended our co-operation with Hubei Posts &
Telecommunications Administration to include mobile systems."

The project, set for completion by February 1999, includes the
delivery of Gateway Mobile Switching Centers, Mobile Switching
Centers, Base Station Controllers, radio base stations and other
services.

GSM is the world's most widely deployed digital wireless
communications standard. Ericsson is the market leader in GSM
worldwide, with almost half the world's 80 million GSM subscribers
connected by Ericsson systems. More than 110 network operators in
some 60 countries around the world rely on Ericsson's GSM systems.

China is Ericsson's largest market. Ericsson China has more than
3,500 employees in 22 offices and 8 joint ventures providing the
full range of telecommunications solutions and products.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries.
Their combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones
and infocom systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in
telecommunications.
