Take a look at this chart.
quote.yahoo.com

This is a story of a stock that almost 500 folded in 9 years. 500 folds, gentlemen, is a return of almost 50,000%. Sure, it was a growth industry filled with promises. But competitions were abound and Dell never had 70% of the market at any time, nor did it have any patent of any kind on any component in PC. It was just another vendor in a fiercely competitive market with extreme price pressure. But good management and sheer growth of the market demand drove the stock up to this dizzy height.

But what I wanted to point out is the path that it took climbing up to that 500 fold rise. See how many times it tumbled on the way. I am sure there were very good reasons every single time. But none of it was able to stop much less reverse the trend. It could only delay it for a while. In restrospect, every dip looks like a buying opportunity. But if you were in it in real-time, you would feel exactly the same way you feel now about SanDisk. If there were this forum back then we would read messages like "this stock is dead..." Of course, when the stock turns around and heads back up, we all say "I should have bought..." and indulge in the futile mathematics of "what it could have been."

If it means anything, SNDK was going against the trend today. NASDAQ had a significant down day today and SNDK was up most of the day and then ended flat. Of course, it means that I bought at the day's high but I am not crying. I just look at the DELL chart and put things in perspective.

On a lighter side, I had a nightmare this morning. I had a dream that SNDK went up by 8 points on the open. It was a nightmare for me because I already transferred the fund and was ready to buy today sometime. I was screaming in my dream "No, you cannot go without me!!!!! Wait five minutes for me to get in!!!" I got very good at multiplying all kinds of numbers with 8 (even in my sleep) and felt pain at every answer I got. When I woke up and saw the ticker, I was relieved that it did not move much. What a relief! I was hoping that it would have tanked for me to get in, but it had actually gone up a little bit. Now that I got the shares I wanted, I am prepared for its 8 point sudden jump. I am sure all of you are ready too.

Sweet dreams.
