<<How about: I DO want to pay less for just Microsoft's OS rather than the bundled pair of OS+browser?>>

Is that what you think might happen? DOJ will force msft to lower
it's oem price? un-bundling and lowering the price?

IF (big dreamy if) msft is forced to split up the os
into components the end result will be more expensive, not less.
but while we're at it, to apply the same law we'll have to strip a lot
of things out of windows. multimedia, compression, network support,
..how far back shall we go? perhaps we should re-visit overlapping
windows and Apple's claims?

Yeah, now your talking baby!

As a msft long, I don't really care. If you hack this monster into
pieces, they'll all come after you like a bad horror flick. I knew this
co as an obnoxious kicking and screaming child. Now it's all
grown up and just needs to learn to behave a little..., the problem
is that the DOJ paddle is week and flimsy, as is the competition's.
