Barry,

As good as the Second Opinion service is, it lacks one important feature and that is a reference chart. The parametric data only has meaning when they can be seen on a chart. For example, the number for Bollinger Bands is shown as 30. Presumably this is 30 days, the question is "where is the stock price relative to the bands, and is the price trend positive, negative, or in a horizontal channel?".

Another deficiency is the On Balance Volume figures shown as "Obv BR*, Pos Obv BL, Neg Obv BL". On Balance Volume is very important, but only when shown as a graphical representation relative to price movement. BR and BL are used as a substitute for that graph, but unless you can reference it to the price pattern, it has little value to the layman.

Similar deficiencies can be described for data shown, but suffice it to say, these are data notations taken in one instant in time (snap shot) which gives an analytical form for interpretation by the designer. The results of the designer's interpretation of this data are given in the "Comment and Recommendation" paragraphs of this information sheet. And, as pointed out in my previous posts on this subject, this summary and recommendation are the writer's opinion derived by his experience and ability to accurately interpret historic data relative to future price movement. One important factor is missing in his analysis, and that is, "what is the time factor for his recommendations?". Is this meant for the short, intermediate, or long term investor?

Technical analysis is an art derived from scientific factors. Because of the many technical factors used for interpretation, many interpretations can be made by several equally gifted technicians.

To summarize, you must be your own expert and decision maker. Don't use anybodies recommendations (including mine) for you final buy or sell decision. Use this Second Opinion for whatever it is worth to you, but only after you can measure its worth (good or bad) on several trades. The first paragraph in your post shows your doubt about its worth.

I hope this answered your question.

Harry

Barry, 2nd opinion picked up coverage on LCAV on 1/19/98 we were able to get this free but only on a weekly ending basis as i had posted after the price closed below 1$.

it had just come up from .56 and closed at 1.03 rating was AVOID NEW STOCK SCORE+1 they recommended to close your position if you were long or monitor stock closely. i had just finished purchasing the stock

under mildly improving conditions they moved it to +2 for the next 6 weeks to the end of Feb. then they stopped the free postings. the stock had traveled from a potential purchase of .83 to sell of 2.40. it does not say much for what they tell you on interpretation but the score seems very close.

one of my other holdings had a 3+ and it jumped 4 points the next 10 trading days

the rating they give is at 0 now if it turns negative watch out.

hope this helps

ar.
