thorr, ever tried to buy a 40 year old house in the bay area for $400k and not been able to? why? options and not salary. some people make 100% more than their salary in options and some make none. cnbs had a 29 year old woman who worked for a tech company since she was 18. started in the mail room. she's a millionaire. 2.5% does sound high, but it doesn't sound absurdly high. the haves REALLY HAVE and the have nots REALLY DON'T. good luck.
