I agree with you regarding the older OnTrak polisher. Apparently, it was not up to par with those of the competitors. The new polisher, just announced, may be a different story. It uses a very different technology than those produced by AMAT, IPEC and SFAM, and allegedly gives much less dishing. OnTrak essentially owns the cleaning half of CMP, with 70% or so market share. I think the next 6 months or so will be the story of the new Lam polisher. My personal guess, and I stress guess, is that it is probably a pretty good machine since Novellus seems interested in combining their deposition technologies with Lams removal technologies.
