The last fifteen posts in this folder are related in one way or another to the MDIX announcement today. Everybody's put in their two-centavos worth, here's mine. Remember three weeks ago, I and others talked of the company's interesting position. A stock selling for less than the cash it had on its balance sheet. This type of situation attracts opportunists like a bright light attracts bugs.

Today's news release was written with very carefully chosen words. It looks like eveywhere in the release where more embellishment could have occurred, it did not. The wordsmithing was quite well done. My 3rd read suggests to me that an earlier version probably dealt with the material in a more "newsy" manner. It brought to mind an old Watergate question. What did you know, and when did you know it?

Sometimes though, telling the facts and only the facts provides a glimpse behind the facts. The release states that the company is not in discussions with a potential tender about the proposed tender. In similar words, the company has not received a formal offer. No surprise there. A tender isn't a tender until the proxy solicitor is formally notified. The company is the last to be notified.

I'd bet a week's salary that the company is in discussions of some sort. The anti-takeover plans I am familiar with cost several hundred thousand dollars to implement. Why would MDIX spend money it doesn't need to, unless it needed to. Undervalued public companies never put themselves in play. That's a fools game.

In my opinion, today's release is the first of several announcements the company is going to make concerning the maximizing of shareholder value. However, the release is probably the 10th or 11th move in a critically important chess game. The company is seeking to add to its board pieces. Today's announcement added a bishop and a knight.

I'd say the company's chances for a big score went up a bit today. If the stock follows suit and other news follows, we might look back at today's spartan announcement as the end of the beginning.
