Hey Kemble: (Semi-OT) Glad to see on the thread tonite.......I'm sure your giddy by now (goin' to work tomorrow, or takin' a Dellholiday?). Although I have a 2-3 yr. investment time horizon with Dell (based on my research), sometimes it is fun to do a few short-term predictions..So here goes: Things are setting up great for Dell over the next couple of days .I firmly believe that the next two days are going to bring us a nice run-up the overall market (Nasdaq and, perhaps a little less, Dow). Wouldn't be surprised to see 30-35 pt. gain over 2 days in the Nasdaq... (1) Dell beats the whisper handily.. (2) Fed will not raise, both markets will react extremely positively (The markets have reacted strongly at every economic report in recent weeks. Although no hike is expected,Nervous market needs confirmation) (3) Nasdaq has had a poor week or so.........ready for a couple good days (4) The market is more settled now that the battle lines are drawn over Msoft (at least short term) (5) It is assumed that Indonesia is a mess; Huge demostrations on Wednesday will probably have little effect... Only for fun, but: We could see a Dell 105-107 by Wed afternoon. Final prediction: I dont think that huge selling will occur after Wednesday.....If Dell does what we all expect, ie., beats the whisper, and state that all is goin' great guns for 2Q, the market will support Dell like it never has before (given the poor earnings coming from other large-caps in 2Q...oh, the warnings we have coming....especially in tech)..Dell will (continue to) look stunning next to HP, CPQ, Intel and others. I think this is the quarter in which "the investment masses" could start to really understand the power of what Dell's management has put together.........Having said this, I think the broader markets will be flat until (at least mid-summer). No big corrections, maybe a 5-7% range around current levels, with individual stocks getting clobbered when the pre-announce bad numbers in 2Q. Sometime mid-summer a small rally......... About 5 weeks ago, I posted to one of our resident bears that Dell will more and more enjoy the "safe tech haven" status enjoyed by Intel and Microsoft....ILet me further say that, after tomorrow, I think you we will be the "tech safe haven" set in concrete for Dell for quite a while. Does not mean that the stock cant go down and/or correct, only just that it will be the tech stock of first resort for a larger and larger (very large) group of investors/money managers.... After all, if Dell can have (and continue to have) a blowout quarter when the "famous old guard" can't make a nickel, surely people will realize the fundamental change at place...... My prediction: After Wednesday, no more under 100 until the split... All, IMHO, of course, and all in fun..........If Dell settles nicely in the 90-100 range, I will be neither mad nor disappointed.... BTW, my brother is a gym teacher too.....Loves it.. Talk to ya later..
