Oxford sued again-- This one has a more humorous ring to it. Reported in today's WSJ interactive. Oxford is currently refusing to pay for Viagra on the basis of "medical necessity " language. Apparently a covered individual considers Viagra as medically necessary for his health and happiness and has initiated a suit.

Oxford indicates that they are reviewing their coverage.

If they provide coverage, it will represent an additional claims cost not priced for in their product (we can now speculate and extrapolate on the impact to the bottom line).

On the serious side, this is an excellent example as to why growth in healthcare costs ouststrip the CPI.
