I see a drift pattern in Apple's share probably until the end of summer. All the major news stories have been released as far as we know. If Apple can pick up any market share on this Microsoft lawsuit, I think we'll see a share price rise towards the end of the year.

That doesn't stand up to the facts as we know them so far this year. It was reported a few weeks ago that Apple's market share had risen from 3.4% to 4% this year. While not earth-shattering numbers, they are important in that it reverses a long term downtrend in Apple's market share. These sales come at the expense of Windoze machines. Apple's unit sales are up, and profits are increasing. Even the media isn't seeing Apple as a survival story with the same vigor as in the past. With the recent introduction of the G3 PowerBooks, which offer even larger performance advantages over Wintel laptops than the G3 vs. P2 comparisons, I can only see this trend continuing. The iMac will add to this even more.

Apple's only hurdle I can see in the near future is whether they can make the machines fast enough to satisfy the demand.

"Anyway if preemptive multitasking and memory protection were not so important, why is Apple striving to reach this goal."

I didn't say they were unimportant. I do say they are overrated capabilities as implemented in Windows.

"It is because they are at least 5 years behind the Windows architecture."

LOL
