Windows NT Computer Virus Emerges to Harm Enterprises

A computer virus which infects computer network servers of the public organizations or enterprises has been discovered for the first time in Korea.

According to An Chul-soo Computer Virus Research Center (ACVRC), a virus called 'Cabanas B' has the symptoms of infecting the 'Windows NT' server operating system of enterprises and paralyzing the network.

ACVRC said that a domestic company has actually suffered inconveniences with the virus having paralyzed the network.

The existing computer viruses mostly infected DOS, Windows 95, EXEL and word processing programs. 'Cabanas B' is in the focus of attention, in the fact that it is the first virus to invade into Windows NT systems.

Cabanas B hides in the memory, and infects all files when executing a Windows 95, Windows NT file and occasionally freezes the system.

A clause, '(C) Win32.Cabanas v1.1 by jqwerty/29A' appears on the infected file. ACVRC unveiled that they have added a treating function for the virus on vaccine programs such as 'V3NT' and 'V3PRO', and will be provide the existing NT users with the supplemented version.
