The one rising star that is conspicuously missing on your list of prospects is MFNX. Give it a look.

alternate facilities-based LECs and IXCs with strong management and solid execution are where it's at, IMO.

my top holdings in the sector (besides QWST) are WinStar (WCII), IXC (IIXC), ART (ARTT) [highly speculative], Electric Lightwave (ELIX), GST (GSTX), Metromedia Fiber network (MFNX), and WorldCom (WCOM). I don't follow the satellite players. TCI and WMB aren't close to being pure plays in telecom. I like the Level 3 story but find it way overpriced at this point in time. I also have a small position in RCN (RCNC), a regional CLEC in new England 48% owned by Level 3.

If you want to drill down on CLECs, clec.com is a good starting point.
