John, The blanks could come from a secondary source or they could be made up by the company or by whoever is providing chain of custody. If I sent blank samples to a lab and they came back showing values, I would discount all of the samples and request that the lab do over at their expense. If they wouldn't, I would find another lab. In the case of Maxam, I don't know if these were really blank or check samples. Sometimes, some of these people don't get their terminology quite right. I would ask the company for clarification before I worried about anything. Tim Hall
