Oh, I wouldn't disagree Microsoft will be around a long time. As for axes to grind, well, yes. I used to be a lot more circumspect about these things. The combination of my firsthand experience of the integrity and uniformity of the Windows95 experience, and a little too much engagement with cheesy high school debate tactics turned me more toward the sarcastic vein. Or black humor, if you would.

Any Microsoft backers want to actually post some defense with some substance or references, as opposed to the usual "Bill Gates is John Galt / the "market" has decided / the government is stupid, a Libertarian utopia would be better, feel free. On the legal issues, I prejudge nothing, I'm naive high school civics guy there. I let the advertising salesmen in the press speak for me when I think there's a point. There has been some substance on Libertarian philosophy, but that's largely extralegal.
