AMD's CUSTOMER LIST at the roll out for the K6-2 will make all the statements necessary. Either they will have strong support, or they won't! As for Intel, they already announced that Katmai SYSTEMS will sample this year, and software compilers/libraries are available. The larger KNI instruction set, double precision capability, and up to 500 MHz clock speeds will be compelling to developers, giving them very good reasons to code/develop/optomize theri programs for Intel's Katmai New Instructions.
