Skipper,

I agree with all you say. And I think the major part of the economy should run that way. But I wouldn't mind if a small part of it had limited taxing capability to get some things done which otherwise wouldn't get done. You will say that once the government gets the taxing power, it will greedily increase its theft of your goods. And I would agree, as witness the increase in taxes since Reagan (about double for me).

OK, I am inconsistent and don't have an answer!
