You have got to be KIDDING!

Are you referring to IBM selling a few Cyrix chips on the open market or the IBM ME division making chips for Cyrix, AMD and IDT?

If the latter - IBM will make money - at the expense of their customers.

Well yeah, the chip foundry business is a great way to make money in microprocessor manufacturing. That way you don't have to take the losses when the chips are sold below fully absorbed costs.

This may be a solution to Tom Kurlak's perceived "capacity" problem. Intel can contract out its unused FAB capacity so that AMD can make even more money-losing K6s!
