Often, if the company thinks all hell is going to break loose,
They will halt trading.
When a stock is halted, it is halted on Instinet also.

I don't think instinet is that great of an advantage.
If you have 100,000 shares, you will only likely be able to move 5-10% of them at the price you want.

If you only have 5,000-10,000 shares, you might be better off waiting and seeing what the real market thinks of the news.
