Francis,

AMD released K6-3D samples with board manufacturers in Taiwan early this year.

However, I doubt that these released K6-3D engineer samples are not going to be exactly same as the K6-2 to be officially released on May 28th. The reason is that the early K6-3D engineer samples did not provide extra performance enhancements over the classic K6 according to my observation on this matter.

Jerry Sander said that a K6-2-300 on 100Mhz board will provide the performance up to the level of PII-400. Even Jerry is half-way right, there will be some noticeable performance enhancements on K6-2 over K6. Anyone who knows about it did not talk. I have been worry about K6-2 compatiable programs with the existing 2.2V boards.

Thus, you might be right that AMD did not announce the release the final K6-2 samples.

Francis,

AMD is launching the product next week. Engineering samples of the K6-2 have been around for months.
