Tim, better come up with a third company, because neither of these will ever make a bid for ASND.

CSCO has complete and total product overlap, except for the 550 ATM switch. Also, don't forget CSCO paid $4B for Stratacom.

LU has its own heavy duty core switch, RAS/RAC (Livingston), and now Yurie (SA product line competition). I cannot conceive of LU buying Yurie and Livingston, two ASND competitors along different products lines, and then buying ASND. I think the LU bid for ASND probably already occurred ($30-35) and was rejected.

I think we'll have to look elsewhere for a suitor.

Of course, as I type this Nick Theo... on CNBC just said ASND is the most likely acquisition of ASND, BAY and Nokia.

So we'll just have to wait till October I guess.
