Internet sales have nearly doubled sequentially to $5 million a day. this is certainly a good sign when considering the rise in internet usage worldwide.

We see the current situation differently.
That is about all I can respond with.
Seem to me like many were overly optomistic concerning DELL's earnings potential for the quarter. Because of this, it would appear that DELL will open lower tomorrow morning.

Now as for the other PC makers.

HWP lost 3 cents on its PC division but still had opperating earnings of 75 cents / share.
They can do what every they want price wise in the PC division and not have significant damage to the company.

IBM Lord only knows what really happened there, but they are in the same position as HWP. The PC division is only there because other divisions would loose business without it. Gersner probably looks at the PC business as a cost of doing other business as opposed to a profit center.

CPQ in its efforts with DEC is trying to become more like the other two companies. They want to lower their dependency to the PC market.

GTW just announced new and improved sub $1,000 business PCs, will they sell any ?

DELL can remain out of that area for some time to come. Dell could become to wintell and workstations / servers what SUNW is to UNIX and workstations / servers.
But that is not easy road to travle, and in time would narrow DELLs market.

In the long run, Tiffiney and Guccie (sp) have problems when the economey slows.
DELL is after the high end / high dollar / machine sales. With what I see as an overcapacity situation in the industry, DELL's days of growth are numbered.

DELL is doing great in the notebook arena, but how long will Toshiba forfit marketshare to DELL. Notebook in general only grew 2% in Q1.

We will see more in the Morn,
I can't wait to see what the analysts have to say about the CC.
