Ok, Ok, you've convinced me you have a fistful of T3 lines
(in effect) coming in. You are now officially off my
Christmas card list <GGG>. I know envy is supposed to
be one of the seven deadly sins, but considering my
attitude toward sloth, I'm not too concerned. (I
consider sloth more of a life objective than a sin
<gggggg>.)

In your case you will in fact (if I read it correctly)
sit on a network with at least some 10-baseT stations,
so you must decide if you're going to split for a
bridging 10/100 hub (my best price so far is $399
as in earlier message) or settle for 10mb in your
entire lan setup.

I still have 10mb in my lan exactly because of this
problem. BUT if I were doing it now (with all the
gear available) I would mix the two, or at least would
try it until I figured out it was a bad idea.

I've posted before about trying to anticipate by
buying part "this" gear you can't fully use right now
for future implementation of "that" feature. My experience
has definitely been that "that" feature requires "other"
gear which you ain't got. Therefore I would recommend
you either go for the 10/100 hookup, your local PCs being
100 and your internet connection being 10, or go for the
whole enchalada now at 10 and think about 100 later.

You will not notice 10 vs 100 on your internet connection.
You WILL notice the difference in pc-to-pc connections.
Especially if you use something like PC Anywhere to avoid
going to another keyboard or into another room (as I do
sometimes).

Is this more confusing? Good. That's what you get for
your 10mb internet connection. <G> I'm going off now to
purge my Christmas card list ...

Regards,

Spots
