Insider:

Ever hear of the INTC chip screwups? Besides Intel
not handling it's first of several incidents well PR-wise,
do you think it was a big deal.

How about when Bill Gates recently gave a talk promoting
Win98(?) or NT, and during the demo, the OS crashed.

Or what about MSFT's constant bug fixes?

Or how about CSCO's router shutting down AT&T?

How about the recall of every single VW BUG (new ones),
just recently due to some problem realized after shipment?

***If you got a personal problem with COMS, that's your problem.
Don't make it somebody else's. We've got enough stupid
logic and hype on these threads as it is that we constantly
have to examine. You just make the job harder!!

definitely over reacting to the security problem, since it was easily resolved. it had little effect on the stock when the news hit. this type of stuff is common in the network and software business.

since so many people own coms over 30 than under, i expect us to move back up not down, especially since the last 3 days volume has slowed to normal to low. if we were approaching the end of the year, i might agree, but we are to early for tax selling.

>>COMS announced a security password problem with their networks last
>>week.
Not a big deal!!Almost every vendor had them at some point, from IBM to Microsoft....
How about CISCO bug that took down AT&T network for 24 hours?

I think with the relentless growth of PC industry (as per Dell earnings today), the Internet, and with reassuring growth of data networking (per CISCO), COMS spectacular growth should not be too far off. They have excellent line of products.
COMS challenge is streamlining, reducing cost, and solving inventory problems. Mostly due to merger. They WILL solve these problems.
I really think we should see good trends on the up coming earnings report.

The Insider

Hang tough here. This stock will surprise on the upside when it finally moves and the moves tend to be big and fast. I have followed this company a long time and knew that the Robotics acquisition would be bumpy. The price decline was well deserved but IMHO the problems of the acquisition are almost behind us at this point.

3Com is a very volatile stock and it rewards those who understand it.
