JP, who actually wrote this article?

Does the poster know that LDAP is a protocol? Its not a Directory Service. LDAP is a protocol used to transport directory information from source to destination. And its lightweight for reasons. Its not nearly as extensible and powerful as the protocols and services of NDS or DAP or even Streetalk.

Im not saying that LDAP is not an industry acceptance standard. It has become that. I am also not saying its not valuable. It is the lowest common denominator of directory information transport that all Directory Services (X.500, NDS, Streetalk, future Active Directory, etc.) will accept.

These just are not valid arguments because the author is not comparing apples to apples.

NDS supports LDAP, but NDS is more than a protocol.
