My view: most Employee Stock Ownership Plans have been ways to dump unwanted company ownership on the employees. An acquaintance in the seventies had been in the biz for years and had very few stirring tales to tell. Most happened in companies that could not be given away. I would be very careful of any new deal in this direction.

Do your workers really want to own the risks inherent in the world wide sugar trade ... with price supports and other government rackets all beyond their control? What chance have they of understanding or impacting world wide markets like sugar? Slim to none. Unless they have bought of the pols in Washington DC to subsidize their particular output a la our Florida sugar industry.
