*AV*--Judy-I saw your post on the other thread concerning ADI and thought it more appropriate to comment here.

As I was reading your post, my broker called and said ADI was down a bunch <$5+> due to disappointing earnings. ADI was a play for me when the "Limerick" deal was brewing with ADPT. The stock took a good run up for that and other reasons, and I exited. Today's dramatic drop is a great entry point (sub $30) but I will wait. I seem to jump into these things too fast. I am constantly being told that drops like this are lead ins to further drops. With the 3 day weekend approaching, this becomes difficult. I should wait till Late Thursday or Friday to make a decision but will follow it closely to see if it bottoms and then turns. I would like to wait until Tuesday to move on this and I would like to see how MXIM price action reacts to this earnings report.

*AV*--After a great deal of trepidation, my little brother called me today and asked for some investment advice. He said he had $30K he wanted to invest and forget about for a year with hopes that it would grow beyond a money market account interest rate. He wants to maximize a downpayment on a house sometime in early 2000 to coincide with discussions about starting a family. Talk about the pressure.

He didn't follow my lead in CREAF, DY, ASMLF, ASYT, CYMI and a few other choice "picks" over the past 3 years. Since every one of them performed, the pressure is now on for me. I told him to buy 1,000 shares of the following 3 stocks: CYMI, IDTI, and NPRO. I hope I am correct and it works out for him. With that said, I will state or re-iterate that IDTI and CYMI are my top tier investments for the future. He said he will watch these stocks and act accordingly.

That is not to say that stocks like ALYD, ASYT, CFMT, AMAT, NVLS, etal. are not good investments but rather that I am most comfortable that these are the most "conservative" of my investment choices that could provide optimal growth. Of course, I also told him that if any of the stocks are up 40% prior to the end of next year, he shopuld consider taking profits if another opportunity should exist with other stocks.

Just wanted to share a little info on what I have recommended to a family member with limited resources.
