Someone will complain regardless of what MSFT does. You're complaining that they develop what they integrate and exclude third parties. If they buy a product from a third party then someone else complains that MSFT never develops anything themselves.

I've noticed this too. Was going to mention it on the WSJ MSFT suit discussion page, but forgot. It's an excellent point. Another example: Someone on the WSJ MSFT discussion page complained that MSFT had charged extra for the Microsoft Plus! product, claiming that was an example of an abuse of a monopoly position; ie withholding extra features unless people paid for them. At the same time, people have been bitching like crazy (like in the DOJ complaint) about how horrible, predatory, and abusive it was for MSFT to actually just give away for free the IE browser.

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. If I was MSFT I would increase all the prices 50% right now. At least then people might have a legitimate gripe instead of MSFT facing a bunch of bogus charges, but then MSFT would be reaping the $$, and probably wouldn't mind taking the heat. -GG-
