The data warehouse segment of the market
is growing. Informix should benefit in this
arena because of it strategic position in
this area. -> Just my opinion,

The database market grew
only 7 percent last year to
$6.6 billion, compared with
14.8 percent in 1996,
according to Dataquest, San
Jose, Calif. That slowdown,
and their own missteps, hit
Informix and Sybase the
hardest -- but others, including
Oracle, were also adversely
affected. By comparison,
demand for data warehousing
products and services is
booming, which helps explain
the burst of product and
service offerings coming from many companies. The
Meta Group estimates the data warehousing market will
grow 40 percent this year to $8 billion.
