Hi Bollmonster,

Nope, if it didn't catch your attention on the first pass, it isn't a good ad. Especially
considering you already know enough about S3 to where it would normally be
something you would pick up on faster than the general population. Since 3D is all
about games with lots of pretty colors and business presentations that grab attention,
an ad for 3D stuff should come screaming off the page at you. People believe that
anything that looks wonderful, is wonderful.

Suharto just resigned and the Nikkei is up over 250 points. Reuters is spreading gloom
and doom on the NASDAQ over the trade deficit. Probably see mixed reactions in the
market tomorrow. I still think the charts look like SIII is about to take off again.
We'll see.

Regards,

Don

Boll,

<It's an interesting ad, not a bad concept, but not very eye- catching either.... ...What do you all think...am I just being too picky?>

No, but it gives me an idea. We could start a little brainstorming session here and come up with some ad/marketing ideas.

How about a TV ad ala Intel hi-tech with a bunch of spanish-speaking frogs offering free tacos as they jump across a map of Indonesia trying to dodge Suharto's henchmen and big iguanas ("here lizard...here lizard") and every time they jump on little ping-pong ball with a happy-face painted on it the image becomes more 3D-ish and sharper..... well, I could always get it started but never could close.

The people at S3 remind me a lot of all the real estate developers and construction companies that started up in the mid- to late-70's and very early 80's. They were subcontractors and/or laborers, got some capital together and started their own developer/contractor business. As long as all they had to worry about was erecting a building everything was fine, because that's what they knew. But, then the bottom-dwelling, scum-sucking lawyers got them involved in all the creative financing and these builders were way out of their league. Some made it, but most didn't.

The people that brought S3 into being were about making a chip, which they did very well. The problems came in trying deal with the outside world. Now they had to have publicists, accountants, figure-heads, all that had nothing to do with chip-making.

Hopefully, they've learned from their mistakes and can go on.
