Good evening to you all. Pursuant to today's trading in Sideware Systems (SYD.VSE) and the many questions stemming from the press release by Lotus Corp., please find enclosed the following commentary from the company. COMMENTS WITH RESPECT TO SPECIFIC PRODUCTS PURCHASED BY LOTUS CORP. 1] VIRTUAL PLACES Virtual places, though containing some real time collaboration products, is not much different from other chat systems such as ICQ. The product can not perform many functions performed by Net Notions and, therefore, has no direct impact on Sideware Systems. The product is currently available through Excite and the company urges it's shareholders to use the product. In short, though the product is within the same market segment as Sideware products, the company is not concerned with it. 2] DATABEAM Quite simply, Databeam presents no competition to Sideware products. Databeam is a dataconferencing product similar to the Microsoft Net Meeting product and not within the same market segment as Sideware products. CONCLUSION Management has examined the press release, is aware of the products and does not believe either product is in competition with Sideware products. In fact, management believes they represent complimentary products. Specifically, with re-positioning and new development direction of Sideware products as discussed in our last corporate update (i.e. new 32 bit client), the company sees an even greater opportunity to be pursued with Lotus, which may now find the 32 bit client to be of even greater interest.
