You are correct that ORCL has latched onto CORBA on all tiers. My point was that any thoughts of introducing a proprietary solution would be a mistake and broadly dismissed by the development community. Although I think it is a good idea to embrace CORBA, it may be a little early in the game. Last year, the Java community recognized that CORBA was going to play an important future role. This year we are seeing many vendors offering CORBA solutions for developers to embrace. It may take another year or so for the developers to get their skill sets up to speed to leverage the offerings. Until then it is not a bad idea to support other standards, or widely adopted formats (like native PowerBuilder ;) ) in addition to CORBA.
