The review clearly misses the key points - battery life (months vs. days), sluggish of WinCE - takes seconds to switch application and WinCE buttons over a small screen.

Extreme Networks Dominates the Global Market for Gigabit
Ethernet Layer 3 Switches - 07:02 a.m. May 21, 1998 Eastern

Extreme is also Market Share Leader in Fixed Configuration
Layer 3 Stackable Switches and Ranked No. 3 in the Worldwide
Market for Layer 3 Switches

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 1998--
On the heels of winning back-to-back Networld + Interop Best
of Show awards, Extreme Networks has captured a monumental lead
in the Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 switch market.

According to a report issued this week by market researchers at
the Portola Valley, Calif.-based Dell'Oro Group, Extreme captured
a commanding market lead with an impressive 64.5% share of Layer
3 Gigabit Ethernet switch port shipments. Extreme's Summit
switches also dominate the fixed configuration Layer 3 switch
market with a revenue share of 41.1%.

"Winning back-to-back Best of Show awards confirms the technical
clout of products like the Summit48 Enterprise Desktop Switch,"
said George Prodan, Extreme's vice president of marketing.
"However, dominating this important new market segment confirms
that legions of customers are turning to Extreme Networks for
Layer 3 switching solutions that extend from the desktop to the
network core."

In addition to leading the market in fixed configuration
stackables, Extreme has moved into third place in the overall
market for Layer 3 switches. Extreme captured a 10% revenue
market share, surpassed only by Bay Networks at 38.1% and 3Com
at 26.5%.

"The landscape formerly dominated by the "big three" networking
companies is changing for the Layer 3 switch market," said Gordon
Stitt, president and CEO of Extreme Networks. "Extreme has moved
ahead of the major players in this vital market segment, due in
part to a shift in customer preference toward Layer 3 switching
and hardware-based routing. The result places Extreme on customer
short lists as one of the top three providers of Layer 3 switching
solutions."

-- Summit2 for core and segment switching

-- Summit3 for desktop and high-performance workgroup switching

-- Summit4 for integrated server switching

-- Summit48 for low-cost, high-performance desktop switching

-- Summit Virtual Chassis for aggregating Summit LAN switches
throughout a network

Included with all Summit switches is ExtremeWare, a standards-
based software suite that implements industry-standard routing
protocols. ExtremeWare also delivers the industry's most powerful
Policy-Based Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities, which give
network managers end-to-end control over bandwidth and traffic
prioritization.
