Good APM stop-loss: $0.99

PS: That's assuming you buy in the near future @ $1.10.

Yeah, I agree there's a POSSIBILITY, but what probability?
Maybe a Jan 99 straddle. You can straddle 5 to 10 (5 put,
10 call) for a little over two bucks, or just buy the
calls for 75 cents. I wouldn't want the stock, though;
and I'd rather be farther out than Jan 99, but that's
as far as they go at the moment.

I got out when I read the president's letter in the annual report which claimed that the company was the industry leader in TFI heads (or words to that effect). Made me think of buggy whips for some reason.

Regarding Samsung: TFI heads at that product density point doesn't make any sense to me.

The current quarter is the end of the Western Digital business and the beginning of ??????????? Third quarter revenue could be very, very substantially down from Q1 and Q2.

Lower before higher, in my opinion. But I have never been right on this one.

Regards,

Dave Chanoux

Jon,

I noted that Todd's info via CC is at odds with the information that I am getting. I understand that APM is trying to qual a 2.1 GB per platter program with TFI (not MR) heads. So far they have been unsuccessful.

With regard to Samsung not being interested due to short product life I would guess that the qual is for a product intended for the very low end part of the market everyone is shooting at which could fit the dates quoted.

WDC's two supplier policy is part and parcel of their "virtual integration" policy. The idea was to cut the number of suppliers and elevate the relationships to a higher plane of cooperation and commitment.

I personally do not think APM has a chance. I think they will be down for the long count before year end.

Best,
Stitch
