Terry, it's a wireless modem of some sort. Whether it works with cellular systems, satellite, or inside a building to connect to a LAN I do not know. Ask the company for more details.

Rather than using a PCMCIA slot, it uses a proprietary Panasonic slot, freeing-up a PCMCIA slot. (PCMCIA slots take those think credit-card-sized cards.)

Wireless cards are a fairly small part of the notebook add-on market, but probably high-margin.
