Ok thanks,

I had a somewhat different interpretation.

The story was likely picked up from a company press release (aren't all new stories?); that this was more wishful thinking on MetroNet's part than a probability.

We merely have a new owner of the same Facilities that were intended for local competition.

In any case, we can hope that MetroNet will have better access to financing in order to buy more NN equipment.

IMHO,

Ian.

Pat - If I understand your post correctly, the competition is among the local telephone providers, not NN per se. In fact, could it not be the case that the competitive threat posed by this merger could be met by hasty upgrades and fixed capital investments from the other competing telcos as they jockey for position (and hence create sales of NN's ATM equipment, etc.)?
