Hmm, on a PE basis, Apple is cheap, yet Forbes doesn't think it deserves even that multiple? And they try to compare the company to a big 3 automaker?

And they forget the $430 million spent on NeXT? ("That
is certainly a vast improvement over a year ago--when Apple
somehow managed to lose $708 million in a single three-month
period--but it is hardly cause to be breaking out the Dom
Perignon.")

Seems like a pretty sloppy article.

Hmm, and now scanning the iMac review, I would guess that this piece is on the web, because I don't think the print edition would run an article saying you would be "a complete fool" to buy one. And interesting that lack of software is the big issue considering that this is a home computer and ships with tons of personal productivity software. My, my, my.

Soup, don't forget all the extra technology Apple possesses too. The true value of Apple can't be measured without giving some sort of value to the patents and so forth. But a nice response. Guess some of the republican guard is going to be more slow to react to the new Apple than others. Almost sounds like the writer set out to write a piece the opposite of Time, Newsweek, and Business Week.

Well, on the brighter side, the new Gateway line of laptops are priced at or a little above the new PowerBooks with the same features. So for the same price, one can get a better processor and OS. Advantage Apple.

PS--Novell hit a 52-wk high today. IBM is close. Apple is off its very recent highs. The MSFT-competitor mindshare gain continues.
