"how many watts is desirable"

Intel says at least a 200 watt power supply is required for a typical system using either their SB440BX or JN440BX motherboards. Hence it seems reasonable to say motherboards made by other manufactures that use the BX chip set will have similar power requirements. However, if your system is fully loaded, an adapter in every PCI slot, than a 300 watt power supply is a better choice than a 250 watt power supply.

Thanks for writing the lengthy posts about your new setup. I think I can fairly say we are learning far more about day trading from you then you are learning about building a dream machine from us.

You do NOT want 750S (server full tower) you do want the 750 full tower. Note make sure to select correct form factor, for instance 750A for an ATX MB. This case has slides on all external bays (this is a great feature) and sufficient open bays for a little future expansion.

300W supply is fine, 350W is great. This is a strong, durable case with good internal design. Good airflow design also. The extra few bucks spent on it are a good investment.

I was only using the downsizing of components as an example. I did NOT mean you should do so.

More info on SW's Totally Awesome Computers (thanks for the ref SW):

I called them yesterday and got the following info:

Web site is members.aol.com As the operator I spoke with said, it isn't much, but it does give some helpful info. In particular, they have a toll-free number 1-888-965-8844.

The only case they're currently using is the "minmaw mm-3713-00 mid-tower." Any of you know anything about this one? I've never heard of it.

If it's an excellent case, or if they can be persuaded to get me an Asus Elan-vitale 10-AB case for an Asus board, I think I'll be game to put them on my short-list for an upcoming PII system purchase.
