I follow this advice for my work files. I use triple backup on two types of media ( CDR and MO ) Files are tabulated, byte counts monitored and logged. I keep one set at a remote site. I do not backup my operating systems and configurations in this scenario.

For my home computer I do not care about that level of security except possibly on a couple of files.

For the home solution I would prefer a more convenient methodology.
