Board meeting,Scraps II -apparently Brocade has the circuit boards for the silkworm done by MSL in minneapolis, but then the boards are shipped to calif to be put together. Ancor has MSl do the whole thing according to Craig's report from his meeting last week with Ancor people. -staff turnover is still way below industry standards, although Ken did say that they lost one person due to "traffic in Minneapolis". I could not tell whether the problem was too much or too little. -the best question not asked or answered was the concerning the product mentioned by IBM in the magazine article,(wasn't that an ethernet to fc bridge?). I think Ken said that new products were not introduced at an annual mtg, does anyone have a notion of the next good opportunity for the Co. to introduce a new product? - I don't think that the co really thinks that their location here in Minn hurts re sales to OEM's , for example, Paul Pasqua pointed out that when he was with Zytec they were a leading supplier to Cisco even though they were located here, and some of their competitors were located right next to Cisco. -Ancor's mkII has self configuring ports unlike the competition. Finally something a layman can understand. It does not matter where you plug in the back , you can not make a mistake, the switch will figure out what is needed or wanted at that port. -there is no doubt in my mind that at this time Ancor personnel think that Brocade is their only competition, not to say anything about what real comp etitors might pop up in the future. -I also felt that the Ancor people think that in time the market for this stuff,i.e. fc switches, will be really big. This is my interpretation of what little I could pick up . In summary, as Ken said the company was confident that they would win their share of the storage OEMs, but as Paul Pasqua said "the art is winning the right ones" ron r
