Richard: One has to hope that the COC SFA was an anomoly. Otherwise, Maxam joins the ranks of IPM, GPGI, and Naxos as not being able to confirm through COC what they had been reporting without COC.

I'm not a chemist, minerologist, etc., but I would guess the variation in results of assays has something to do with the variability of the ore. I would also guess the variability of the ore also has a lot to do with the difficulty in figuring out a process to extract metals consistently. GPGI seems to be having a great deal of difficulty coming up with a consistent product, thus the difficulty in refining it. I wonder if the Maxam-Hewlett process can deal with this problem.
