Quite right - although I disagree with your conclusion that "People have got what they want". What self-respecting pro-democracy student would feel fulfilled with Habibie as President?

In fact, although the sentiment would seem to be basically co-operative (since the removal of Suharto takes away most of the truly nasty outcomes), no-one seems to have any real idea of who will take over. As such, I think the protestors will have enough on their hands to stave off the "what now" syndrome, at least for the time being.

One point should be highlighted: the quality of the Telkom PSTN has been outstanding throughout the crisis. Despite the prevailing panic over the last few days, international and domestic lines have been easy to access and of high quality.

I wonder if the same constancy might be expected from the share price?
