That's a fair answer, but when you consider the options of BBTK I think they have made a fair decision. They, as you know, have already agreed to do sharing with General Instrument and they have joined this consortium. What they are trying to do is establish a favorable standard and then compete on the merits. This is kind of like IBM allowing clones to be built as opposed to Apple trying to control a standard. I know BBTK is apparently not big enough to compete in an open market but what are its choices? It has an alliance with Lucent that allows it to go against the big guns. BBTK is creating coalitions and standards and moving out of the vacuum that it has been in with its "superior" proprietary technology controlled by itself.
