The laws of the land insure that 10 years and 100s of millions of dollars will be wasted pursuing this - just like IBM in the 80s. And 10 years from now the whole thing will be moot - just like IBM's hegemony in mainframe computers.

But this is still a representative democracy. Bad laws can be change.
