Smart Money, IMO, has the best record of any financial magazine in picking winners, especially in the beaten up and down trodden category. I only wish I had acted on more of their recommendations.

Changing topics, but further to Bob B's contention that there may be a wee bit of irrational exurberance with internet media stocks, I really got a laugh out of the following Reuter's release:

"Excite rejects Zapata's bid
By Reuters

May 21, 1998, 7:35 a.m. PT

Zapata's offer to buy the Internet media company
for $72 per share of Excite stock.
Excite cited a lack of synergy and "vast disparity" of market capitalization between
itself and Zapata, which recently began transforming itself from a fish oils business to an
Internet company.<

I guess fish oil just isn't Exciting enough for Zapata.
