"threatened to put one of Compaq's lines out of production." is a more accurate characterization, thanks for the response. Even that action by MSFT is pretty aggressive given Compaq's presence and value to them, one wonders what they might have done to a smaller player. BTW Intel does stuff like that all the time, they are much more retaliatory in their defense of both market position and IP than MSFT IMO. Although I believe that the aggressive defense of both IP and market by the largest players needed some correction, we don't want to cure the disease by killing the patient.
