The fact that C*/Skybridge will be up and running in 2001 was touched on by Doug, but bears repeating. Throw in some FCC delay and that gap may widen. Did everyone see that the experimental Teledesic sat is not functioning properly?

I don't know who said it, but GEOs ARE essential in this type of system. Someone said they were not needed. That is untrue. Point to multipoint, multicasting, media delivery, etc. all are best served by GEOs.

How did I know that Dragonfly would jump on this immediately as a proponent of Teledesic---capacity comments already? Save it for 5 years from now.

Thanks for the article, Brian. The MOT albatross has now been added to the Teledesic stew. I wish them success (uh, right!).

Regards. ...Tim

Well, well. I knew that Teledesic would die or re-invent itself. Now that has joined MOT, I now believe it has the creditability to go forward.

Building a big constellation is not trivial. There was no way that Teledesic could have done 288 satellites without having help from someone who has "neen there, and done that".

No matter what side of the fence you sit on, the next few years will be interesting ones.

IT'S A GREAT TIME TO BE IN AEROSPACE!!!!!!! :-)

PS. Thanks for taking the politics to another arena.
