44 trades of TPII in 12 months, and that's just one stock.
How many trades did you average per day for all stocks over
the past year?

The one factor you neglected to mention in comparing the $1065 per
1000 shares vs. your $2880 is the amount of time you spent actually
watching the Level II screen, calculating profit/loss, etc.. In the
long trader case, time spent is minimal; I can only imagine how
much time you spent per trade. I both envy you the time you get
to spend 'working' and the guts of steel you must have! Even if
I had the time I definitely don't have the stomach for it.

Just curious; how many times out of the 44 was the trade price
influenced by real news?
